Do you know rationally what to do to move forward in your personal and professional life but feel overwhelmed or stuck in a pattern of responding?

Do you long for closeness but notice that you hold a part of yourself back from your friends, partner, and/or family?

Are you new to Sydney or Australia, and often feel misunderstood, lonely, and that you just don’t quite belong?

Or perhaps you notice that at times you are very hard on yourself, so much so that it is difficult to make decisions, consider change, and feel light and free in yourself?

Sharing such inner thoughts & experience with another can feel like a risky step to take but it can also feel like a relief to be understood, accepted, and receive professional support and guidance.

My practice is grounded in counselling psychology and is both supportive and collaborative. I have a genuine passion about creating a reflective space where it feels safe to enquire beyond the symptoms and conflicts that you experience. With self-awareness and a fresh perspective can come deeper understandings, alternative pathways, and meaningful and lasting change.

While most of our work is explored by talking things through, I also offer the option to work flexibly and creatively around issues. I primarily use Emotionally Focused Therapy techniques, reading and audiovisual material, as well as techniques drawn from intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy.

I come from a bi-cultural background myself, having migrated to Australia as a teenager. It is from here that my interest around issues of identity and belonging have stemmed. I understand the added complexity of having conflicting values and viewpoints on an issue that culture can bring. Together, we can sort through these in an attempt to connect to, and value the essence of who you are.

I have been working closely with people as a counsellor and Psychologist for twenty years. For the last five years I have worked at the Valhalla Counselling Practice with a wide range of people of varying ages and cultural backgrounds. I have also spent 12 years working at the University of Sydney counselling students from all over the world.
